G’day folks, Just being a horrible gloaty windbag really. I’ve done a bit of investigating this week and everything has suggested that the Varied Lorikeets I saw last week are legitimate vagrants taking a bit of a wander from their usual range.

So ticking them up has got the all-time list for Central Australia up to the milestone of 200. The year list still has a way to go, but with the crazy weather and all the high winds over the outback who knows what will turn up next? The Tawny Grassbirds that were seen earlier in the week have not been pinned down yet but the swamps aren’t particularly navigable at the moment and they are due to be flooded with a fresh batch of treated effluent any day now.
I’ll keep looking for grassbirds, but to be honest I’m hoping for an Albatross!
