Yesterday I watched a flock of over 50 Corella moving around Gaythorne for over an hour. I could nt tell if they were Long-billed or Little at the distance. The Boondall Wetland checklist says they have Little Corella but doesn’t mention Long-billed. Simpson and Day show a small population of Long-billed near Brisbane, but no population of Little anywhere nearby. Sorry to be sloppy in my e-note. You are right that I was seeing large, red-billed terns that I thought might be Caspians. I was wondering what else I should look for: Crested, Common, etc. Thanks to all for the clarification. -TATE Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry

We are staying in Brisbane for the month of July (from Washington, DC). Among the ID problems I am having is deciding on which terns are most common on the river. Many of them appear to have dark red bills and look big enough to be Caspians or Crested. But some are smaller – are these Commons? The gulls are Silver Gulls, right. I haven’t seen anything else from the Citycat.
