g’day everyone, In the last week i have observed flocks of gouldian finches feeding on sorghum grass seed and drinking at small pools in El Questro Wilderness Park, East Kimberley. Long-tailed finches have successfully fledged young in the same area, and masked finches are common. I have also seen the elusive Painted snipe in the park!

Other birds of interest observed here include: nesting wedgies and sea eagles pictorella mannikin crimson, double-barred and zebra finch spotted harrier white-quilled rock pigeon jabiru brolga shining flycatcher great bowerbird brush cuckoo plumed whistling ducks little woodswallows yellow-tinted honeyeater striated pardalote black-fronted dotterel

I have just arrived home from a trip to Nepal with my brother. This was a trekking trip to Mt. Everest base camp at 5364m however i managed to spot some birds along the way. Following the trek, we booked a one day safari in Chitwan National Park in the terai lowlands. We managed to I.D. a few birds here as well with the help of a local guide. Whilst in Chitwan we were lucky enough to see One-horned Rhinos, spotted and sambre deer and rhesus macaques. 48 species of bird were identified on the whole trip in Nepal, and here’s the list:

Hi, I’m just after more information on the location of the noisy pittas and regent bowerbirds at Ourimbah-Palmdale listed by Edwin Vella and Tony Dawe on Birdline NSW. Any help would be much appreciated, even some rough location details in the general area would be great.

Hi all, During a recent trip to Round Hill and Nombinnie NR i saw a splendid fairy wren do something really interesting. As i walked through the mallee scrub a male flew across in front of me from one tree to another. The flight he took was as if he was displaying to me or to females. He flew with a very upright posture (imagine a hummingbird hovering at a flower) , and dipped up and down in the air as he flew in a straight line. To me it looked like he was showing off to females around, an act of bravery almost. It struck me as unusual because most birds quickly find cover when approached, but this male exposed himself out in the open for much longer than necessary.

Any thoughts?

hi everyone, i heard about the new national park listing in capertee and was interested to know more about the plans for the park and the consequences for the birds of the area. Also in terms of birders travelling to the area, is it one of the better places to find some of the rarer species such as regent honeyeater?
