The recent article in Emu regarding the proposed split in grasswrens caused me to communicate on this subject with Birds Australia. Today I received a reply from Graeme Hamilton, CEO of birds Australia saying :- > BA’s Research and Conservation Committee is in the process of > establishing a Taxonomy Committee………, I feel BA has a > responsibility to consider all relevant publications and to maintain > the definitive Australian bird taxonomic list. ………..I feel > that the world taxonomies of IOC and BirdLife International should > be advised by BA following disucssion and deliberation among the > experts in Australia. > >
It seems like we will get exactly what has been suggested at some time in the future. Hope all in favour of the BA/BOCA merger will vote so the list will come from a clear Australian peak birding body. Regards Peter
