An unusual cyclone

Cyclone Marcia is due to cross the coast near St Lawrence this time tomorrow morning. Possibly due to warm sea temperatures, it has rapidly intensified. It was originally expected to be a category 1 event crossing the coast near Gladstone. It is now expected to be a category 5 and crossing the coast north of Rockhampton. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ65002.shtml The storm tides are likely to affect the turtle rookeries and the system is likely to affect seabirds in the southern coral sea. If nothing else, it will have an impact on pelagic sightings over the next couple of days. Regards, Laurie.
