While eating my sorghum Weetbix this morning I wondered whether the
flocks of Brolga we have been seeing in harvested sorghum paddocks
were dining on spilt sorghum seed or for vertebrates or invertebrates.
So I checked HANZAB and it says they have a varied omnivorous diet
that includes cereal grains. So I read the Weet Bix Packet and see
Sorgum Weetbix contain 10.8% protein, heaps of Magnesium, Iron, Vits
B1,B2,B3, etc, So even though I thought their bill would be too
large to handle grains looks like they have good reason to handle
such small items and do so. Good for them. Not wasting anything.
Woops Sorry
It was not HANZAB it was HBW Handbook of the Birds of the World.
Raalised that when I was putting it away!
Happy birding
