From your email address, I think you are at Charles Sturt University, but they have a lot of campuses (Sydney, Wagga, Bathurst, ….). Powerful Owls can take Greater Gliders, so they would definitely be able to take a possum. I have seen them roosting near Melbourne with half a glider (presumably ready to take to the female at dusk).
