Thu 26 Dec Hardhead Amata Waste Water Treatment Plant Quick drive around for observations/count . Hot, dry weather approx. 41 degrees. Hardhead (1) Observed on pond 2 with Grey Teal. Julie Mathews Tue 24 Dec Letter-winged Kite Port Wakefield Up to six Letter-winged Kites consisting of five adults and a juvenile were observed along Wakefield Creek on private farm land east of Port Wakefield. The birds favoured the taller more dense Eucalypt trees but would perch on low dry trees during the late morning were good views were afforded to the party of observers. Kelvin Sparks Wed 18 Dec Little Bittern Ral Ral Creek at 34 07 46S, 140 45 09E Heard but not sighted (I do have a faint recording that I matched with this birds call on the Morecombe & Stewart app) in thick reed bed (including Cumbungi along Ral Ral creek. Heard calling regularly from one side (site1) and then later in day the other side of the creek (site 2). Heard again calling regularly from site 1 on December 21st. Following noisy wake producing boats in the creek the bird then disappeared. We were moored in a houseboat for several days at this location. Site 1 was upstream approx 100 metres on port side and site 2 was 50 metres upstream on starboard side.
