Bitterns & Others

Good Morning Everyone

A phone call from a good mate of mine sent me off to Jerilderie on Friday as he had seen some Australasian Bitterns near where he was working. When I arrived late in the afternoon he took me to the spot and straight away we saw the light phase of the Bittern and the at another spot a dark phase one as well but the light had almost gone so I dropped the speed down to 1/10th of a second and my iso up to 1250 and took a few shots of the dark bird as I have learnt from bitter experience that if you do not seize the moment, even if the conditions are not favourable you can miss a bird. My mate said not to worry as they had been there all week and I would get plenty of shots tomorrow, but sure enough the next day we could not find the dark phase bird at all, and it was mid morning before we found the light phase bird again! We also had a 2nd year Spotted Harrier fly over us and I jammed a shot of a Female Stubble Quail in flight. Here is the usual link http://barraimaging.com.au/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=lastup

Kindest Regards
