It's all about the birds
Hi. I’m wondering if it is possible to produce a map of Australia showing all the locations from which I have posted an eBird sightings list. Years ago, I saw a map produced by a birder who had done just that but he told me he had used a 3rd party mapping app – not sure which. To my way of thinking, eBird must have a way of doing this and if not, why not.??!! Any ideas gratefully received.

I have flushed a single buttonquail on three occasions in recent days while walking the dog through an echidna/koala-hosting grassy woodland/forest on the lower slopes of a large hill in greater Brisbane. The native grasses are generally knee high clumps and medium density.
The flushing distance for the bird typically around 5 metres. It flies about 20 to 30 metres at a height of two metres in a straight line with very little wing noise. There are no contact or alarm calls.
I am thinking it is probably a Painted BQ, but am not sure if the behaviour is typical of the species.

Yesterday in Mulgoa Valley, six YTBCs were screeching and wildly flying into and around a Radiata pine whose cones were providing their lunch.
Investigating, there were four (4) Sparrowhawks noisily attacking the cockatoos, which after about five minutes departed.
Couldn’t tell age or sex of Sparrowhawks but presumably they were two families, unless there was a single clutch of two or three with one or both parents ? Any suggestions ?

Over the last few months, I have been watching a colony of four different Egrets nesting on a small island in a lake on the Gold Coast,
occasionally I see a dead Egret floating in the lake, which I presumed was runt of the clutch and had missed out on enough food and
has starved or one that has fallen out of the nest and has not been able to get back up to it.
The trees in the rookery are close to the waters edge but are not overhanging the water, any young that fall would land on the ground.
Yesterday evening I photographed what the reason is for the deaths, when the young are getting some size it is bedlam when the parent returns with food, they get that excited they madly scramble towards where the parent lands and if there are three or four young they all try to feed at once.
They all try to grab their beak at once and are that rough the parent flies a short distance away for a spell then comes back and tries again.
While the parent is a short distance away the young try to scramble through the branches to reach them and I saw one fall through to the ground only to be set upon by 5-6 Dusky Moorhens, who proceeded to kill it.
Shortly after it happened again, only this time they forced the young Cattle Egret into the water and with them all attacking it they forced in under the water till it drowned.
A few minutes later the body floated to the surface and they immediately landed on it and forced it down again.
There are two areas of bare ground close by where the Egrets come down to drink and the young when they are ready to leave the nest fly down and spend a day or two before they take to the air.
The Moorhens walk through them and don’t bother them in these areas.
The Moorhens seem to consider this area theirs and vigorously defend it, perhaps they have a nest under the canopy that I can’t see.

I have a YouTube channel about my family traveling and birding in Australia etc (at the moment only in the allowed zones)?I?ve recently seen the Turquoise parrot at Warrumbungles (15 at one time and young & photographed them ?)?and I?d like to highlight any conservation efforts any organisations may be doing to get their numbers up and highlight those organisations in my video and how to support that/them to build public awareness and help out these gorgeous parrotsCan anyone tell me who is spear heading the conservation efforts for this species specifically? Perhaps I can get in touch with them nd see if they mind me featuring actual names of people behind this work?
