Kimberley

HI all,

I will be in the Kimberley for the next 2 weeks and would appreciate some advice. I will be with the family, so very limited dedicated birding time, but it is my birthday, so they have to tolerate a bit of birding.

Never having been there before I have a hit-list as long . . . → Read More: Kimberley

Bamaga and Red-bellied Pitta

Hi all,

I have finally done a blog for our trip to Bamaga last March where we saw the Red-bellied Pitta without too much trouble. I hope this helps for people thinking of chasing it in 2017.

For a keen birder there is only one reason to go to the tip . . . → Read More: Bamaga and Red-bellied Pitta

Ravens in Sydney – June 2016

Hello Tom,

From your comments you seem to be under the impression that Australian Ravens have a deeper sounding caw than our other corvids. Not so! Aust Ravens are the sopranos (or perhaps tenors!).

Drones and National Parks

Hi All, Drones a great tool to get aerial photographs but National Parks are out of bounds unless you get a permit. I have just tested this at the Warrumbungle, they were not prepared but the boss said come back the next day and yes I had a paper to sign to give me permission, . . . → Read More: Drones and National Parks

Drones

I agree with Paul Dodd. I have a Drone and I am a bird photographer, I didn,t get it to take photos or video of wildlife / birds. Birds don’t like the noise they move off very quickly. The lens is too wide. They are not a bird watching tool.
