We had an excellent pelagic trip off the Sunshine Coast yesterday seeing two species very rarely recorded in Queensland – Soft-plumed Petrel and White-chinned Petrel – along with a highly unusual mix of subtropical and subantarctic species. If these birds are not escapes this is a rare sighting for SA. However, reporting 5 days after the event doesn’t give much chance for anyone else to go confirm the sighting.
